Bouncing Ball

 Bouncing Ball
Yesterday I started learning animation and created a "ball and chain animation" in which I uploaded a small clip off, However I also created a bouncing ball which sadly I deleted part of its animation so I was unable to upload a clip off it.
However today I learned a little on creating rigs and decided to recreate the bouncing ball animation which I damaged, but this time I would use no guide to create the animation.

This is my results, its not perfect but it is my first ever true animation on which I used no guide to create, only using my muscle memory.
Note this is only day 2(about 4 hours in total) of me studying/learning animation.

Ball And Chain Animation

 Ball And Chain Animation

I'm learning to animate as I will need too know how when I create my T-rex scene so and here is a quick result as off today's lesson.
There was also a Bouncing Ball Video but accidents happen and I erased part of it's animation :(
Created in Blender r54336M 2.65.10

Rocks

Rocks
While I'm working on the T-Rex model I may want to add some fake objects to the video which he will be composited on top so I am playing around in blender creating junk such as rocks which I may add to the video and below a result of some quick easy rocks.

Seems blogger down scales my HD images so below is a link to the HD version just click.

T-Rex Update 2

T-Rex Update 2

Sadly I was unable to update anymore last week as things got hectic with the family car braking down, also sadly I'll be busy for both Wednesday and Thursday this week.
But for today I have done a little modeling in some spare time reshaping the feet of the T-rex and starting the slight detail stage which after the whole model has had a overall then Ill start the fine tune detail stage etc. Below is the updated model now with claws.

Above is the updated model, as you can see I have detailed the feet a little more and added claws to the model.

Update Styled Character 2

Update Styled Character 2

Its the 4th update this week and for my short spare time today I have begin UV unwrapping the Styled Character model so It is ready for painting on, I have tried a new experiment UV unwrap method instead off my usual which gives a very clean front model and clean arms and legs, so its not your standard unwrap.

Here is a few images below of the unwrap.

As you can see in the second image down its very clean unwrap/
The 4th image shows the front is nicely unwrapped and should be easy to draw on.
Hands still need much work but this model is really only for animation learning purpose so I am unsure if ill go back over them.

That is my 4th update in a row, maybe ill post something else later if I can squzze in some more time other wise I'll try again tomorrow to post something.

Update Styled Character

Update Styled Character Model

This is the second update of my Character Model , as promised yesterday I will need to continue it in order to learn for my T-rex Scene. So Today I have created a body for that big head, it still is a bot rough mostly around the hands and feet but it will do for today.
It is rare for me to give 2 Updates in a row so lets hope for a 3rd tomorrow ;).

Image Above is the Update.

Fresh models Trex and Ship

Trex And Ship

Its been a while sense I have post simply because I am forgetful and have been busy looking for as job, in some of my spare time I have decided to get back into modeling and start learning more on sculpting.

I have decided to work on 2 scenes, the first the A ship using normal polygon modeling, its a nice tricky model because It has more curves then many models and not many people have created a ship in 3D so i am giving it a shot.

Second I have decided to work on a animation scene, this will be a T-rex running in a forest, this will be challenging because I do not know how to rig or animate and doing this scene will teach me. This will also force me to keep working on that Tim Burton style character I started a while back because it will help me learn the animation stage, on top of which I will learn composting to bend a video of the forest with the T-rex. It will take some time because I'll need a camera and I'll have to wait for summer as the forest near me is a giant mud puddle at the moment and i don't fancy getting muddy.

Here is images below of my progress so far.

Above is my boat, its still being box modeled as you can see
Above is the T-rex model a few days old
Above is the T-Rex model as of today, as you can see I'm still sculpting its shapes/form being but none or less an improvement from a few days ago(image in the middle is few days ago).

Well that is my update for today.

I still have to color/materials/texture it, but I am very happy with how it is so Far.
I must get back around to finishing older projects such as Kara, but At least I can say the Truck is near complete.

Blender Review Update

I'm a Blender user simply because I'm teaching my self and can not afford expensive software yet or training(i take donations such as hardware to books), i find blender good but its no diamond.

I have been able to try Maya/Max in 30day trails which are both far better then Blender in my opinion, The problem with Blender is that it is too basic and plain as in there is no advance settings or very few.
To do a simple job in say Maya can take much longer in Blender, for instance if you applied a bevel in maya you can choose how round to make it, while in blenders recent 2.63 version you have to apply bevel and then select the new bevel edges and bevel again and repeat once more if needed(this is because you can not tell it how many segments/iterations/roundness you want ). Also many tools such has Loft splines and chamfer are not in blender or even basic settings such as pinch/sliding when adding edge loops with more then one loop(crtl+r,scroll middle wheel for more loops), simple things can speed up modeling workflow much faster.
This gives blender a much slower work flow, and when it comes to the industry standard time is money!.

Blender has a huge problem which the developers seem to be blind to and that is that developers keep adding new features instead of upgrading/fixing existing features. The only improvements are to modifiers never the tools with an exception off b-mesh which has took 3 years of development before release and it is still buggy at parts(2.63a has fix's).
Just look at cycles the new render engine, it does not have particles, hair, smoke,"light coming thought windows"and network rending etc which are all blender features off the old render engine. Really if a feature is not complete then it should not be released in a stable build!.

Blender has got its good side aswell!, its free which is great for people like me who have little or no money. Its very flexible being that you can change almost everything you see on screen from colors to the layout. Blender with any paint software is a almost complete studio. Blender has a 3d cursor which helps you move objects/parts around and adjust things in ways you can not in other software.

But really its developers are blind to what they need and do not work in a professional career and nor do i, this is why they do not see it from a industry standard point of view. Last year there was a vote which features to improve and every one voted rendering , sure blenders developers saw this and created a whole new render engine called "cycles" when what people really asked for was improvements not a rewrite/creation of a new engine.

Blender is in google summer code again this year ,however last years work is a good 70% not finished and dating back to 2009 summer code you can still find many features not finished and never added(complete waste of time and effort).

Blender is great to start learning with, but very soon after trying other software you will start to fill limited by its tools.

Truck Update

For a few hours a day(well what little I could find) I have been working on my Truck and i feel now would be a great time to update my blog. So without further a ado I give you my Truck Update.

There still is much to do on but as you can see the front of the Truck is near complete and the back of the Truck as started, I have also started the first materials test ,but much is to be done as at the moment the Truck is a good 90% color red.

Working on the Cerebus Scene as well will show an update soon.

Stay tuned there may be 1 or 2 more Truck update's before its Final spin video.

Long time no post.
I have not posted in a while because well i have finally moved address, now living in Norfolk in the country side and it is great, this meant for a while we was very busy packing and unloading and we even needed a second removal-van because we had a lot of stuff even doe we worked around it.

The new area is Great its very peace full and you fill 100times safer then living in Essex, I now get out the house a lot and is looking for work(any job will suite me nicely).
I Take my dog for a walk now in the morns and sometimes at night ,however he is scared of the dark and jumps at every shadow.
The people who live here are so kind and friendly, every time you past them on the street you say Hi or good day with a smile, you just did not et this in Essex unless you wanted to be be beaten.
There is young children playing in the park, some walk there dogs and even a few helping with gardening and cleaning, they are so kind that a group knocked on our door and asked if there was young children living here because they wanted to play.
Shops open in the morning and an close at different times, its usual compared to towns because you check your times to make sure you do not miss them, but its great and friendly. We have the luck of having the post office/butcher meat/general shop all in one at the end of the road, also you can get your hair cut for cheap so i had mine done for just £7 when i was expecting around £16.

Anyhow I have started modelling again, here is a small update for you lovely people.

Working on a new Tavern for Cerebus Film.
Here is my work so far from 2 camera angles, it is under heavy work in progress.

Thats all for now, ill be back soon and try to update my youtube aswell ;)

Cloth simulation with rigg

This is a test i done today which is a rigged mesh with cloth Simulation attached.
Imagen if the top sphere was a human waist and the bottom sphere is legs, the cloth it self would be a skirt/dress, it would be very useful for characters that wear dress's.

This may become useful for my Kara model with animating her as she wear's a skirt like thing, Ill most likely use it for her.

Created in Blender 2.61 and rendered view-port in blender 2.6a.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, let's hope it's a good one.
My New Year's Resolution is to work harder on studying 3D , this year i will find the money to pay for some training to improve my skills.

I'm still working on skinning my Kara model, working slowly on her gear part by part to it them perfect.
When i finish Kara's skinning and make any adjustments needed to the rig I will then animate her and upload a new video, this may take me a week or two so not too sure which date that will be ready.
Until then here is a update image for yeah to view showing my progress.

The second image gives a preview of what she may look like when rendered

The Truck which I'm modelling will have to be done in any spare time because I really want to finish Kara first.

Kara Update 8

This is the 8th update on my Kara model, My plans is to finish and animate this model very soon so keep a eye out for updates.

First of all this was created in Blender 2.61 and Blender b-mesh build from http://graphicall.org/ was used for the new head(you cant see the head in this video keep a eye out for the next).

Second this is not a true render unlike my other videos, instead this is a render of the view-port in OpenGL. So textures and details will not be shown in this video.

Third the reason for uploading this is to show that my Kara model now has a rigg(digital bones) ready to be skinned too. I'm guess some people would be interested in such things so that is why i have uploaded this video ;)

Fourth this is also a sound test and fade this, that's right from now on I'll be trying to make sure that a good 90% of my videos come with sound.

Soon ill be adding hair and animating Kara in future videos.
